Jane Lewis, Owner of The
Quilter's Inn, has sewn all
her life. She
started sewing in high
school and worked for a
fabric store while in high
school and
college. Funny thing was,
she really hated
putting in zippers and
sleeves, and talked her neighbor
into doing it for her! She really didn't start
quilting until 1994, at
which time she met with a
group of women who were
quilting (in Atlanta).
Once started, she quickly
became hooked on quilting --
as a hobby, an art form and
eventually, her occupation!
In
May of 2003, Jane decided to
open a quilting store. Her
business philosophy focused
on
hospitality and customer
service. She wanted a store,
but only if it would be
welcoming, where women (and
men!) could come in, stay
all day, bring their sewing
machine and have a good
time! At The Quilter's Inn,
it's all about being
comfortable, and working
with others who have the
same love of touching the
fabric, and sharing the joy
of quilting.
We hope never to have
anyone leave the store that
hasn't spoken with a sales
associate, or been helped in
some way. Jane has assembled
a team where each member is
extremely
knowledgeable and very
service-oriented. Each of
them comes to The Quilter's
Inn with many years of
experience in the world of
quilting, whether they are
designers, teachers,
editors, writers or just
passionate about fabric --
one staff member even has a
degree in textiles. Classes
are taught both by staff
members and outside
teachers, including some of
the finest quilters and
instructors in the Bay Area.
The Quilter's Inn is a
member of the Danville
Chamber of Commerce and Discover Danville,
and of course our staff
members belong to several of
the local quilting guilds,
including
Diablo Valley Quilt Guild,
Piecemakers
Quilt Guild of Southern Alameda
County and
Amador Valley Quilters. |
